He was out on bail granted to him by the Supreme Court in 2009 and was directed by the court to surrender by July 7. However, Rajagopal moved the top Court, saying he had been hospitalised and needed more time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In March, the Apex Court upheld the life sentence awarded to P Rajagopal and eight others for the abduction and murder of his employees in 2001.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Rajagopala was accused of murdering Shantakumar, the husband of Jeevajyothi, whom he wanted to marry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Santhakumar was murdered and buried at Perumalmalai in the Kodaikanal forests.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to entertain a plea of P Rajagopal, the founder of restaurant chain Saravana Bhavan, seeking more time on grounds of ill health to surrender for serving life imprisonment in a murder case.
