It will only skirt the coast. It has made a small deviation. However, its effect will be there with strong winds and heavy rain,&#8221; sources said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">On Wednesday, over three lakh people were evacuated from coastal Gujarat and the Union Territory of Diu. The Indian Army, Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard have been kept on standby for relief and rescue operations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Schools and colleges across several districts in Gujarat will remain closed today as a precautionary measure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">&#8220;Cyclone Vayu will not hit Gujarat. It will pass nearby from Veraval, Porbandar and Dwarka. Its effect will be seen on the coastal regions as there will be heavy wind speed and heavy rain as well,&#8221;\u00a0IMD said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Prime Minister\u00a0Narendra Modi\u00a0had said that the government is closely monitoring the situation urged people to follow the real-time information being provided by local agencies to stay safe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Central Government is closely monitoring the situation due to Cyclone Vayu in Gujarat and other parts of India.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cI have been constantly in touch with State Governments. NDRF and other agencies are working round the clock to provide all possible assistance,\u201d Modi said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cPraying for safety and well-being of all those affected by Cyclone Vayu. The government and local agencies are providing real-time information, which I urge those in affected areas to closely follow,\u201d Modi tweeted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The sea condition is phenomenal over north Arabian Sea and Gujarat coast till 15th\u00a0June 2019 and over northern parts of eastcentral Arabian Sea during next 12 hours.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Sea condition is very likely to be very rough to high along &amp; off north Maharashtra Coast on 13th\u00a0June 2019<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The fishermen are advised not to venture into north Arabian Sea and along and off Gujarat coast till 15th\u00a0and over Eastcentral Arabian Sea and along &amp; off Maharashtra Coast on 13th\u00a0June 2019.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Storm surge of height of about 1.6m near Mangrol, Junagadh district above the astronomical tides likely to inundate the low-lying coastal areas in the afternoon of 13th\u00a0June 2019.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>\u00a0Action suggested:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Regulate road &amp; rail traffic<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Total suspension of fishing operations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Evacuation from low lying areas, coastal Hutment dwellers, urban slum dwellers and people staying in unsafe house to safer places. People in affected areas to remain indoors.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Movement in motorboats and small ships unsafe.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Inundation of low-lying areas in the along the coasts due to heavy rainfall and storm surge.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">On Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the preparations for Cyclone Vayu.
