Stating\u00a0that various authorities are involved in construction of foot-over bridges in Mumbai, Fadnavis said that these constructions should not be built keeping in mind life of 30 to 35 years. Instead, he said that the construction should be undertaken by using latest <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">technologies so that it lasts for a longer period.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">There are 344 bridges in Mumbai out of which 314 are within BMC jurisdiction. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">There are 30 bridges which are under MMRDA (Mumbai Metropolitan Regional <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Development Authority) and 29 out of these 30 bridges have been closed down after structural audit. There are 92 bridges which are in good condition while 116 bridges are undergoing minor repairs. There are 67 bridges which are undergoing major repair works.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Central Railway has undertaken inspection for 199 bridges while Western Railway has newly constructed 32 foot over bridges. IIT and VJTI have re-inspected two bridges at Ghatkopar and Juhu Tara Road after which these bridges would be repaired by using modern technology.
