He has also been given a Cabinet rank in the government in recognition of his contribution to the national security domain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cThe Appointments Committee of the\u00a0Cabinet\u00a0has approved the appointment of Ajit Doval as NSA with effect from May 31, 2019,\u201d a government order said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Doval, who served as the NSA in the first tenure of the Narendra Modi government, had held the rank of Minister of State.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">A 1968-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer was a former Intelligence Bureau chief. He has been widely hailed for his contribution to the national security domain during his last five-year tenure.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">According to the officials, Doval had played a key role during the Balakot air strike after the Pulwama terror attack and 2016 surgical strikes after the Uri strike.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ajit Doval has been re-appointed as the National Security Adviser (NSA) for five more years.
