Masood Azhar designated as a terrorist in @UN Sanctions list. Grateful to all for their support,&#8221; India&#8217;s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN Syed Akbaruddin tweeted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Along with India, the US, Britain and France put pressure on China to change its stand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The global terrorist tag will subject Azhar to an assets and finance freeze, travel ban and an arms embargo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">China on Tuesday had said that the issue of designating Masood Azhar as a global terrorist by the UN would be \u201cproperly resolved\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">China removed its hold on the proposal, which was moved by France, the UK and the US in the Security Council\u2019s 1267 Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee in February just days after the deadly terror attack carried out by the Pakistan-based terror outfit JeM.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Last week, foreign secretary Vijay Gokhale held talks in Beijing with top Chinese officials on key issues including the listing of the JeM chief.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">China had last month placed a \u00a0technical hold on a fresh proposal to impose a ban on Masood Azhar which claimed responsibility for the horrific Pulwama terror attack that killed at least 40 CRPF troopers<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The UN Security Council on Wednesday designated Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM)chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist after\u00a0China\u00a0which had blocked Masood Azhar&#8217;s listing as global terrorist four times, lifted its technical hold. &#8220;Big, small, all join together.
