The deceased has been identified as Manguli Jena, BJP&#8217;s mandal president of Khurda zone-9, police said on Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The incident took place on Sunday midnight when Jena was standing near the house of BJPs candidate Kalu Charan Khandayat for Khurda assembly seat and was holding a discussion with workers of the BJP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">He sustained critical bullet injuries and was rushed to the hospital where the doctors declared him &#8220;brought dead&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The motive behind the murder was not yet ascertained, police said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condemned the murder of the BJP leader and requested the Election Commissioner to direct the Police to take strict action against the culprits.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Assembly elections are being held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls in Odisha.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A\u00a0local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)\u00a0leader\u00a0was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Odisha&#8217;s\u00a0Khurda\u00a0town late on Sunday.
