Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday tagged top politicians including Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, celebrities including Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh and Vicky Kaushal and other prominent personalities on Twitter urging them to \u201cencourage\u201d people to vote in record numbers in the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI appeal to @RahulGandhi, @MamataOfficial, @PawarSpeaks, @Mayawati, @yadavakhilesh, @yadavtejashwi and @mkstalin to encourage increased voter participation in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. A high turnout augurs well for our democratic fabric,\u201d Modi tweeted.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDear @srikidambi, @Pvsindhu1 & @NSaina, the core of badminton is the court and the core of democracy is the vote. Just like you smash records, do also inspire a record-breaking voter turnout. I request you to increase voter awareness & motivate youth to vote in large numbers,\u201d Modi added.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Many youngsters admire you. It is time to tell them: Apna Time Aa Gaya Hai and that it is time to turn up with high Josh to a voting centre near you,”\u00a0Modi tweeted tagging Ranveer Singh and Vicky Kaushal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Modi also named industry leaders Ratan Tata and Anand Mahindra in his posts on the micro-blogging site for \u201censuring maximum participation in voting.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

PM Modi reached out prominent personalities after posting a blog in which he made \u201cfour requests for democracy\u201d. This comes barely four weeks ahead of the first phase of the Lok Sabha election.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his blog, PM Modi said by voting, people connect themselves with the country\u2019s dreams and aspirations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Let us create an environment where getting one\u2019s voter card and casting a vote, especially for the first time, become occasions for celebration.<\/span><\/p>\n

There should also be an environment where not voting causes great anguish.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWould you want a situation where something happens in the country that you disapprove of and you are forced to think – because I did not go vote that day, this unfortunate situation has arisen and the nation is suffering,\u201d PM Modi\u2019s blog reads.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSpare yourself from that regret and go vote,\u201d advises Modi.<\/span><\/p>\n
