{"id":310152,"date":"2019-03-05T09:04:48","date_gmt":"2019-03-05T09:04:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=310152"},"modified":"2019-03-05T09:06:04","modified_gmt":"2019-03-05T09:06:04","slug":"terrorists-being-trained-to-carry-out-operations-via-sea-navy-chief","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/terrorists-being-trained-to-carry-out-operations-via-sea-navy-chief\/","title":{"rendered":"Terrorists being trained to carry out operations via sea: Navy chief"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-306112 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/sunil_lamba-300x183.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"556\" height=\"339\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/11\/sunil_lamba-300x183.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/11\/sunil_lamba-768x469.jpg 768w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/11\/sunil_lamba-696x425.jpg 696w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/11\/sunil_lamba-687x420.jpg 687w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/11\/sunil_lamba.jpg 998w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 556px) 100vw, 556px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Navy Chief Admiral Sunil Lanba on Tuesday said that they have reports that terrorists are being trained to carry out various operations through the sea.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">&#8220;We have reports of terrorists being trained to carry out operations in various modus operandi including through the medium of the sea,&#8221; said the Navy Chief Admiral.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Addressing a gathering of global experts, Lanba said the February 14, Pulwama attack was perpetrated by extremists that were \u201caided by a state\u201d that sought to destabilise India.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The 26\/11 attack was carried out by sea-borne terrorists of the Lashkar-e-Taiba who entered Mumbai and carried out a series of coordinated attacks including shooting and bombing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Navy chief said that the Indo-Pacific region had witnessed multiple forms of terrorism in recent years and only few countries had been spared.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">However, India faced a \u201cfar more serious\u201d version of \u201cstate-sponsored\u201d terrorism, he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cWe recently witnessed the horrific scale of the extremist attack in Jammu and Kashmir. This violence was perpetrated by extremists aided and abetted by a state that seeks to destabilise India,\u201d Lanba said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cThe Indian security establishment is continuously working to address this menace,\u201d Lanba said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Moreover, Lanba emphasised the importance of the Indo-Pacific Region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The naval chief&#8217;s press briefing came a day after Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa addressed a press conference in Coimbatore.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Navy Chief Admiral Sunil Lanba on Tuesday said that they have reports that terrorists are being trained to carry out various operations through the sea. &#8220;We have reports of terrorists being trained to carry out operations in various modus operandi including through the medium of the sea,&#8221; said the Navy Chief Admiral.
