Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday arrived in Seoul, marking the start of his visit to the Republic of Korea. He will be participating in various programmes during the visit, aimed at boosting trade and cultural ties with the Republic of Korea.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ministry of External affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted, \u201cPM @narendramodi arrives in Seoul, Republic of Korea, his 2nd visit after the State Visit in May 2015. During the visit, PM will have bilateral & business engagements, unveil Gandhi bust & accept the Seoul Peace Prize conferred upon him.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

PM Modi tweeted on Wednesday, \u201cThis evening, I will be leaving for the Republic of Korea at the invitation of President @moonriver365. We regard the Republic of Korea as a valued friend with which we have a Special Strategic Partnership. The visit will boost bilateral cooperation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Before leaving for Republic of Korea, PM Modi said, \u201cThis will be my second visit to the Republic of Korea and my second Summit meeting with President Moon.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe had the pleasure of receiving President Moon Jae-in and First Lady Mrs. Kim Jung-sook in India in July last year. My visit to the Republic of Korea is reflective of the importance we both attach to our relationship,\u201d Modi added.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe regard the Republic of Korea as a valued friend, a nation with which we have a Special Strategic Partnership. As fellow democracies, India and the ROK have shared values and a shared vision for regional and global peace. As fellow market economies, our needs and strengths are complementary. ROK is an important partner for our \u2018Make in India\u2019 initiative as well as in our \u2018Start Up India\u2019 and \u2018Clean India\u2019 initiatives. Our collaboration in the field of science and technology is encouraging, with our joint research ranging from basic to advanced sciences,\u201d Modi said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe growing depth and variety in our relationship has been accentuated by the harmony between our Act East Policy and ROK\u2019s New Southern Policy. Working together, we are determined to take our relationship forward as a \u2018future oriented partnership for People, Prosperity and Peace\u2019,\u201d Modi added.<\/span><\/p>\n

During this visit, apart from his discussions with President Moon, Modi will meet with business leaders, members of the Indian community as well as eminent persons from all walks of life.<\/span><\/p>\n
