{"id":309001,"date":"2019-02-05T10:52:23","date_gmt":"2019-02-05T10:52:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=309001"},"modified":"2019-02-05T10:59:35","modified_gmt":"2019-02-05T10:59:35","slug":"ex-norway-pm-bondevick-attends-kashmir-conference-held-at-uk-parliament","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/ex-norway-pm-bondevick-attends-kashmir-conference-held-at-uk-parliament\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-Norway  PM Bondevick  attends Kashmir conference held at UK Parliament"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-309004 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/UK-parliament-300x160.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"574\" height=\"306\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2019\/02\/UK-parliament-300x160.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2019\/02\/UK-parliament.jpg 668w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 574px) 100vw, 574px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Pakistan sponsored international\u00a0 on Kashmir held at the UK parliament has adopted a resolution calling\u00a0 for the settlement of the Kashmir issue in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions of Kashmir.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The resolution\u00a0 urged the International Community including the United Nations &#8220;to take immediate and effective measures to address the human rights situation in Kashmir&#8221;.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The conference was addressed by Pakistan foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, Member British House of Lords, Sayeeda Warsi, shadow British Foreign Minister Debbie Abrahams, Liberal Democrat MP Tom Brake and ex-Prime Minister of Norway Kjell Magne Bondevick.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Bondevick recently visited both sides of divided Kashmir to hold dialogue with the political and civil society groups.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Addressing the conference, Qureshi said Kashmir was the oldest dispute on UN agenda.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">&#8220;Pakistan will continue to support Kashmiris in their just struggle for right to self-determination,&#8221; Qureshi said.\u00a0 &#8220;I call upon\u00a0 international community to break its silence over the ongoing atrocities and grave human rights violations in Kashmir.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">He also accused India of trying to &#8220;change the demography of the state&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Bondevick also spoke and said Kashmir is the longest lasting conflict where people are suffering.
