The Court will pass its order on January 29.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The counsel of Akbar told the court that Priya Ramani had damaged Akbar\u2019s reputation which he had built up over the years through hard work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Ramani had accused Akbar of sexual misconduct around 20 years ago, which was denied by him. Moreover, several women came out with accounts of alleged sexual harassment by Akbar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">However, Akbar had termed the allegations were \u201cfalse, fabricated and deeply distressing\u201d. He also claimed that Ramani\u2019s tweets in October last year had defamed him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Akbar, who resigned as Union minister in October last year, filed a defamation case against Priya Ramani after his name cropped up on social media.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Delhi court on Tuesday reserved its order on whether to summon journalist Priya Ramani as an accused in a defamation case filed by former Union minister M J Akbar.
