{"id":307840,"date":"2019-01-07T08:52:08","date_gmt":"2019-01-07T08:52:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=307840"},"modified":"2019-01-07T08:52:08","modified_gmt":"2019-01-07T08:52:08","slug":"delhi-hc-dispose-off-plea-seeking-ban-on-the-accidental-prime-minister-trailer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/delhi-hc-dispose-off-plea-seeking-ban-on-the-accidental-prime-minister-trailer\/","title":{"rendered":"Delhi HC dispose off plea seeking ban on &#8216;The Accidental Prime Minister&#8217; trailer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-300426 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/DHC-300x196.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"545\" height=\"356\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/07\/DHC-300x196.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/07\/DHC-642x420.jpg 642w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/07\/DHC.jpg 650w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 545px) 100vw, 545px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Delhi High Court on Monday disposed off a plea seeking a ban on the trailer of the upcoming movie &#8220;The Accidental Prime Minister&#8221; and asked the petitioner to file it as a public interest litigation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Justice\u00a0Vibhu Bakhru\u00a0refused to entertain a\u00a0plea\u00a0which was filed by the petitioner, Pooja Mahajan, a Delhi-based fashion designer in her personal capacity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The plea alleged that the trailer affected and harming the image of the office of the\u00a0prime minister\u00a0and violated Section 416 of the Indian Penal Code.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The plea, filed through\u00a0advocate\u00a0A Maitri, alleged that the trailer of the film defames\u00a0the Constitutional post\u00a0of the\u00a0prime minister.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The petitioner said, \u201caccording to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) guidelines on films based on real-life characters, a &#8216;no objection certificate (NOC)&#8217; is required, but no such NOC was obtained for the trailer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Pooja Mahajan, in the plea has requested the court to issue direction to the Centre, YouTube, Google and CBFC to take steps to stop the display of the trailer.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Delhi High Court on Monday disposed off a plea seeking a ban on the trailer of the upcoming movie &#8220;The Accidental Prime Minister&#8221; and asked the petitioner to file it as a public interest litigation.
