{"id":307426,"date":"2018-12-23T09:23:24","date_gmt":"2018-12-23T09:23:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=307426"},"modified":"2018-12-23T09:23:24","modified_gmt":"2018-12-23T09:23:24","slug":"india-successfully-test-fires-nuclear-capable-missile-agni-iv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/india-successfully-test-fires-nuclear-capable-missile-agni-iv\/","title":{"rendered":"India Successfully test-fires Nuclear-Capable missile Agni-IV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-307428 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/missile-1-300x266.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"523\" height=\"464\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/12\/missile-1-300x266.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/12\/missile-1-474x420.jpg 474w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/12\/missile-1.jpg 540w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 523px) 100vw, 523px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">India on Sunday successfully test-fired its nuclear strategic ballistic missile Agni-IV, with a strike range of 4,000 km.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The defence sources said, \u201cthe strategic surface-to-surface missile was flight tested from launchpad number-4 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Dr Abdul Kalam Island, earlier known as Wheeler Island, at about 8.35 am.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Agni-IV missile is 20 meter-long and weighs 17 tonnes, it is equipped with state-of-the-art guiding, navigation and communication systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">All radars, tracking systems and range stations tracked and monitored the flight performance of the missile, which was launched with support of a mobile launcher.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Radars and electro-optical systems had been positioned along the coast of Odisha for tracking and monitoring all parameters of the missile, the sources said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cTwo naval ships were anchored near the target area to witness the final event,\u201d they added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The missile is equipped with advanced Avionics, a 5th generation onboard computer system and distributed architecture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">This was the seventh trial of Agni-IV missile.
