Police\u00a0 detained Hurriyat (M) chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq after he defied his house arrest and tried to march towards Badamibagh.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Justifying the shutdowns and the decision to march towards the security encampment, Mirwaiz said the continuing atrocities had left people no option but shut down their businesses.\u00a0 &#8220;We can only express our sorrow and outrage by stopping our daily business, as each day we are losing valuable lives,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/police-detains-mirwaiz-malik-on-way-their-march-to-army-base\/yasin\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-307136\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-307136 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/yasin-300x237.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"461\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/12\/yasin-300x237.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/12\/yasin-696x549.jpg 696w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/12\/yasin-533x420.jpg 533w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/12\/yasin.jpg 710w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a>Similarly, police also detained JKLF supremo Yasin Malik during his attempt to lead a march towards army base.\u00a0 On Sunday, Malik had gone underground to evade arrest. But once appeared in a procession on Budshah bridge on Monday morning, police swung into action and arrested him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Authorities have imposed curfew-like restrictions in Srinagar to foil the march. Earlier, Army had asked people not to march towards the Badami Bagh base.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party staged a protest at the civil secretariat in Jammu against the killings.
