In his plea, Dileep claimed that he has the right to access the images, considered to be the crucial evidence in the case.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The key accused had alleged that these images have been doctored &#8216;to trap&#8217; him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">An SC bench headed by Justice A.M. Khanwilkar said that it will decide whether the memory card containing the clip is a \u201cmaterial or document.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The top court added that the trial court will not frame charges against the actor till it decides the issue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Dileep\u2019s plea was moved in top court by Ranjeeta Rohatgi, former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi&#8217;s junior.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In defense of his client\u2019s plea, Ranjeeta Rohatgi had told the court that Dileep was not named in the original charge sheet and he was framed by the alleged victim as an afterthought, due to enmity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Rohatgi further added that Dileep has the right to obtain the clip.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Supreme Court on December 12 adjourned the hearing of an appeal filed by Malayalam actor Dileep, who is a key accused in hatching the conspiracy of the abduction and assault of the actress in 2017, seeking visuals of the alleged sexual assault on an actress, to January 23, 2019.
