{"id":306589,"date":"2018-12-04T15:09:43","date_gmt":"2018-12-04T15:09:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=306589"},"modified":"2018-12-04T15:09:43","modified_gmt":"2018-12-04T15:09:43","slug":"sc-slaps-fine-on-6-states-for-failing-to-create-online-monitoring-link-of-mid-day-meal-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/sc-slaps-fine-on-6-states-for-failing-to-create-online-monitoring-link-of-mid-day-meal-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"SC slaps fine on 6 states for failing to create online monitoring link of mid-day meal scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-299371 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Supreme-Court-1-300x175.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"502\" height=\"293\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/06\/Supreme-Court-1-300x175.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/06\/Supreme-Court-1.jpg 636w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 502px) 100vw, 502px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Supreme Court on December 4 slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh each on states of Jammu and Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha for failing to create an online link to monitor implementation of mid-day meal schemes in government-run schools.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Also, a fine of Rs 2 lakh has been imposed on Delhi for failing to do so.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">An SC bench headed by Justice Madan B Lokur also took on the state governments for not complying with the directions of the apex court on the issue yet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The top court bench asked the states to deposit the amount with the Supreme Court Legal Services Authority within the time frame of four weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">This direction came after counsel appearing for the petitioner told the SC that these states have yet not created a link on their websites as asked by the court.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">On 23 March 2017, the top court had asked state governments and Union Territories to upload information, including the total number of students getting the benefit of the mid-day meal scheme, within three months on their websites.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Supreme Court on December 4 slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh each on states of Jammu and Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha for failing to create an online link to monitor implementation of mid-day meal schemes in government-run schools.
