{"id":306345,"date":"2018-11-30T12:09:10","date_gmt":"2018-11-30T12:09:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=306345"},"modified":"2018-11-30T12:09:10","modified_gmt":"2018-11-30T12:09:10","slug":"naxals-in-chhattisgarh-use-effigies-dummy-weapons-to-misled-security-forces","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/naxals-in-chhattisgarh-use-effigies-dummy-weapons-to-misled-security-forces\/","title":{"rendered":"Naxals in Chhattisgarh use effigies, dummy weapons to misled security forces"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Naxals in Chhattisgarh&#8217;s Sukma District are continuously trying their new strategies and tactics to target security forces and misled them while conducting operations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">During a search operation by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on November 30, security personnel recovered scores of effigies of Naxal operatives hidden behind trees in the forest area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Effigies and dummy weapons were found by 150th battalion of the CRPF and they were placed to mislead and confuse security personnel about their presence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">CRPF&#8217;s 150th Battalion Commandant Dharmendra Singh reportedly said, &#8220;When our forces went for area domination, they found three effigies installed in the region. These effigies also had dummy weapons made of wood which looked real.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Improvised Explosive Device (IED) weighing 7 kilograms was also detected near one of the effigies. The IED was buried under the mud and connected with a power source at a distance of about 2 metres. CPRF personnel later diffused the IED.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Commandant Singh further said, &#8220;Our forces first thought that Naxals are present in the area and immediately cordoned off the area.
