{"id":304932,"date":"2018-11-01T06:53:51","date_gmt":"2018-11-01T06:53:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=304932"},"modified":"2018-11-01T06:53:51","modified_gmt":"2018-11-01T06:53:51","slug":"cyclone-titli-centre-approves-rs-229-crore-relief-to-andhra-pradesh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/cyclone-titli-centre-approves-rs-229-crore-relief-to-andhra-pradesh\/","title":{"rendered":"Cyclone Titli: Centre Approves Rs. 229 Crore Relief to Andhra Pradesh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-304933 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/cyclone-titli-pg-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"440\" height=\"293\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/11\/cyclone-titli-pg-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/11\/cyclone-titli-pg.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Centre has approved\u00a0Rs.\u00a0229 crore for the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) of Andhra Pradesh as its share for 2018-19, the Home Ministry said on Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the release of the second installment of central share of SDRF amounting to\u00a0Rs.\u00a0229.05 crore in advance to help Andhra Pradesh in providing relief measures to the disaster-affected people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Further assistance will be provided from the National Disaster Response Fund based on the report of the Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT), as per the Home Ministry release.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The first installment was released in June 2018 to Andhra Pradesh.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Andhra Pradesh faced cyclonic storm &#8216;Titli&#8217; on October 11 and its two districts &#8212; Srikakulam and Vizianagaram were severely affected.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Based on a preliminary memorandum submitted by government of Andhra Pradesh for additional assistance, the central government constituted an IMCT on October 22. The IMCT had visited the affected areas in the state from October 24 to 26.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cThe central government has provided full support to the government of Andhra Pradesh by mobilising timely logistical resources to supplement the efforts of the state government to deal with the situation effectively in the wake of cyclone &#8216;Titli&#8217;\u201d, the release said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The logistical support provided includes deployment of adequate teams of the NDRF, Indian Air Force and Coast Guard helicopters, Navy and Coast Guard personnel along with necessary rescue equipment, it said.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Centre has approved\u00a0Rs.\u00a0229 crore for the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) of Andhra Pradesh as its share for 2018-19, the Home Ministry said on Wednesday.
