The Centre and CBI were asked to provide the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) report to court in sealed cover in two weeks. The next hearing on the case will be on November 12.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, who is hearing the CBI chief Alok Verma&#8217;s petition, said, \u201cprobe into the allegations against Verma should be completed in two weeks.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">SC also ordered a CVC inquiry to be conducted under the supervision of ex-Supreme Court judge AK Patnaik.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The apex court said, M Nageswar Rao, who has been given interim charge of Verma\u2019s role, cannot take any policy or major decisions. \u201cHe will only take essential decisions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">SC also asked for the list of all decisions made by Nageswara Rao since October 23 in a sealed cover.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The government, in a midnight move on Tuesday, had appointed N Nageshwar Rao as interim director.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Meanwhile, the Congress is staging a nation-wide protests against the government\u2019s move.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday heard the plea filed by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director Alok Verma, challenging the Centre\u2019s decision to divest him of his powers and send him on forced leave in view of the internal dispute between him and Special Director Rakesh Asthana.
