They are demanding an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and reinstatement of CBI director Alok Verma who was sent on leave.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The centre divested the CBI Director Alok Verma and special director Rakesh Asthana respectively from their roles and sent both of them on leave.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Verma and Asthana, who were at loggerheads on numerous issues and had accused each other of blocking several important cases.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Government also transferred several CBI officials and appointed M Nageswar Rao as the interim chief of the agency.\u00a0Alok Verma on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court challenging the government\u2019s decision after which the apex court agreed to hear his plea on Friday.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Congress will hold protests on Friday across the country over the ongoing Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) row.
