{"id":303819,"date":"2018-10-05T12:44:12","date_gmt":"2018-10-05T12:44:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=303819"},"modified":"2018-10-05T12:44:12","modified_gmt":"2018-10-05T12:44:12","slug":"cbi-grants-bail-to-gurmeet-ram-rahim-in-castration-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/cbi-grants-bail-to-gurmeet-ram-rahim-in-castration-case\/","title":{"rendered":"CBI grants bail to Gurmeet Ram Rahim in castration case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-303820 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Gurmeet_Ram_Rahim_Singh-300x171.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"547\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/10\/Gurmeet_Ram_Rahim_Singh-300x171.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/10\/Gurmeet_Ram_Rahim_Singh-696x398.jpg 696w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/10\/Gurmeet_Ram_Rahim_Singh.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 547px) 100vw, 547px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Gurmeet Ram Rahim, the spiritual head of Dera Sacha Sauda was on Friday granted bail by Panchkula Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in the castration case against him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">However, Ram Rahim will remain in jail in connection with the rape case of disciples.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Gurmeet Ram Rahim is serving 20-year jail sentence after being convicted for raping two of his disciples inside sprawling Dera campus in 2002.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The CBI filed the chargesheet against the Ram Rahim in Ambala court and he was booked under a number of sections under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The bail granted to him pertains to the castration case where it was found that Ram Rahim had forcibly castrated 400 male devotees belonging to Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Apart from Gurmeet Ram Rahim, two doctors were also charged in the case as they were instrumental in the forcible castration of hundreds of devotees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The CBI, in 2015 had registered a case against the Spiritual head of Dera and others in connection with the castration case on an order, issued by the\u00a0Punjab\u00a0and\u00a0Haryana\u00a0High Court\u00a0in 2014.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gurmeet Ram Rahim, the spiritual head of Dera Sacha Sauda was on Friday granted bail by Panchkula Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in the castration case against him.
