President Kovind accorded a ceremonial welcome to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan at Rashtrapati Bhavan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted, \u201cSilk route to Sufism: India-Uzbekistan enjoy historical and cultural relationship. Ceremonial welcome accorded to President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev & Mrs. Ziroat Mirziyoyeva by President Ram Nath Kovind @rashtrapatibhvn and PM @narendramodi #UzbekIndia.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

President Mirziyoyev, along with his wife Ziroat Mirziyoyeva visited the Taj Mahal on 30th September and described it as a temple of eternal love.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the first visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to India since assuming office in 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n

The president is being accompanied by high-level Uzbek delegation members, including Ministries of Trade, Healthcare, Education, Information Technology and Innovation, senators and regional governors, as well as heads of State for the Investment Committee and Tourism Committee.<\/span><\/p>\n

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold restricted and delegation level talks at the Hyderabad House.<\/span><\/p>\n

Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj held constructive discussion on cooperation, trade and investment with Uzbekistan President.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cVisit of the president of Uzbekistan will provide an opportunity to discuss bilateral, regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest and reinforce the strategic partnership which exists between India and Uzbekistan,\u201d the Ministry of External Affairs had earlier said in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since 2011, relations between India and Uzbekistan have traditionally been close and cordial. The two countries have raised their relations to the level of \u201cStrategic Partnership\u201d encompassing cooperation in a wide spectrum of areas including health, defence, political, economic, education, culture, human resource development, counter-terrorism, science and technology, and tourism.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
