He said, ancient Indian universities like Takshila, Nalanda and Vikramshila used to stress on innovations. Prime Minister said, knowledge and education cannot be gained only through books.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">&#8220;Students should learn from their surroundings in place of just sticking to their textbooks,&#8221; he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Prime Minister called upon academics to not only impart education in classrooms of colleges and universities but connect their students with the aspirations of the country. Modi further said, higher education should equip students with high thinking, dignified behaviour and capability to solve the problems being faced by the society.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cSixty universities or institutions of higher learning have been given graded autonomy to improve the standard of education in the country. What needs to be done right now is that we get the best teachers for the students which will finally help in the development and growth of the country.&#8221; Modi said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">It covered eight thematic areas namely:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Improving pedagogy for learner centric education \u2013 use of artificial intelligence for customized learning<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">From job seeking to job creating \u2013 improving innovation and entrepreneurship<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Improving quality of research \u2013 focus on requirements of India<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Bringing synergy among educational institutions \u2013 pooling of academic resources like sharing of libraries and exchange of knowledge<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Building inclusive and integrated campuses \u2013 taking up activities which could bring emotional attachments of students to the campus<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Participatory Governance models \u2013 facilitating participation of students in governance processes<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Building robust financial models \u2013 supplementing Government resources by getting funds from alumni and also from corporate (CSR)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Promoting value education by building in universal values and life skills into education.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated\u00a0the &#8216;Conference on Academic Leadership on Education for Resurgence&#8217; at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
