Before that he had served as Vietnam&#8217;s Minister of Public Security, an organization with broad powers, including intelligence gathering and thwarting domestic and foreign threats.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Tran Dai Quang was originally from a small farming community 115 km (70 miles) south of Hanoi.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vietnam&#8217;s President\u00a0Tran Dai Quang\u00a0died on Friday after prolonged and serious illness.
