{"id":301647,"date":"2018-08-20T11:27:52","date_gmt":"2018-08-20T11:27:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=301647"},"modified":"2018-08-20T11:27:52","modified_gmt":"2018-08-20T11:27:52","slug":"sc-seeks-rajasthan-governments-response-in-alwar-lynching-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/sc-seeks-rajasthan-governments-response-in-alwar-lynching-case\/","title":{"rendered":"SC seeks Rajasthan government\u2019s response in Alwar lynching case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-299685 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Supreme-Court-2-300x175.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"665\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/06\/Supreme-Court-2-300x175.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/06\/Supreme-Court-2.jpg 636w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 665px) 100vw, 665px\" \/>The Supreme Court on August 20 sought a detailed affidavit from the Rajasthan government giving details of the action taken by them with regard to the incident of lynching on July 20 in Alwar District.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">An apex court bench headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra asked the principal secretary of the home department of the state government to file an affidavit giving details of the action taken in the lynching case.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Court has asked for the affidavit to be filed in one week, the court posted the matter for the next hearing on August 30.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The SC\u2019s direction came while hearing a contempt petition filed by Congress leader Tehseen Poonawalla and Tushar Gandhi, in connection with the Alwar lynching case. Ganghi and Poonawalla alleged that incidents of mob lynching and vigilantism were taking place despite the SC\u2019s verdict in this regard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In Alwar lynching incident Rakbar Khan was allegedly beaten by cow vigilantes in Alwar district\u2019s Ramgarh area when he was leading two cows from Ladpura village to his home to Haryana.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">According to reports, the Alwar police took three hours to take the victim to a hospital which was only six kilometers away from the place of incident.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Supreme Court on August 20 sought a detailed affidavit from the Rajasthan government giving details of the action taken by them with regard to the incident of lynching on July 20 in Alwar District.
