{"id":301449,"date":"2018-08-16T09:27:15","date_gmt":"2018-08-16T09:27:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=301449"},"modified":"2018-08-16T09:27:15","modified_gmt":"2018-08-16T09:27:15","slug":"unknown-gunmen-attack-military-training-centre-in-kabul","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/unknown-gunmen-attack-military-training-centre-in-kabul\/","title":{"rendered":"Unknown gunmen attack military training centre in Kabul"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">On August 16 Unknown gunmen reportedly attacked military training centre in Qala-e-Wazir in Kabul city.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">&#8220;At the moment, we are trying to evacuate people trapped inside the building,&#8221; the Kabul police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai reportedly said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Reportedly the assault which is currently underway begins at approximately 10.15am local time at the training centre overseen by the National Security Directorate in the city&#8217;s Qala-e-Wazir area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">There are no details on any casualty or injury figures as yet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">No group has claimed the responsibility of the attack so far.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Kabul Police spokesman added, &#8220;Afghan security forces have cordoned off the area as the clashes are ongoing. Gunmen were firing from a construction site opposite the centre&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Stanekzai added that the attackers were firing rocket-propelled grenades and other weapons but it was unclear how many gunmen were involved.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Local residents said that at least they heard one explosion in the area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The attack comes a day after a suicide bombing at an educational centre in Dasht-e-Barchi in the west of the Afghan capital killed 48 people.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On August 16 Unknown gunmen reportedly attacked military training centre in Qala-e-Wazir in Kabul city. &#8220;At the moment, we are trying to evacuate people trapped inside the building,&#8221; the Kabul police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai reportedly said.
