The apex court will now hear the matter in week commencing <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_269312391\"><span class=\"aQJ\">August 27<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Hearing on Article 35 A was adjourned as Justice D Y Chandrachud, one of three judges in bench, was not present.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">According to the apex court, \u201cThe three-judge bench which has been hearing the case will decide whether issue of Article 35 A has to be referred to a constitutional bench\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The protests were held in Kashmir valley against the removal of Article 35 A. <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_269312392\"><span class=\"aQJ\">On Sunday<\/span><\/span>, Kashmir observed a complete shutdown which was called by Joint Resistance Leadership consisting of separatist leaders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">According to Article 35-A people from outside Jammu and Kashmir were barred from acquiring any immovable property in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The J&amp;K government had filed an application in the apex Court on August 3, to defer the hearing of the case, citing the upcoming local body elections.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Supreme Court has deferred the hearing on pleas challenging the constitutional validity of Article 35-A pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir.
