{"id":300947,"date":"2018-07-31T17:47:51","date_gmt":"2018-07-31T17:47:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=300947"},"modified":"2018-07-31T17:47:51","modified_gmt":"2018-07-31T17:47:51","slug":"sc-dismisses-review-plea-seeking-probe-into-cbi-judge-loyas-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/sc-dismisses-review-plea-seeking-probe-into-cbi-judge-loyas-death\/","title":{"rendered":"SC dismisses review plea seeking probe into CBI Judge Loya&#8217;s death"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-300950 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/judge-loya-300x250.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/07\/judge-loya-300x250.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/07\/judge-loya-503x420.jpg 503w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/07\/judge-loya.jpg 617w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The Supreme Court (SC) on July 31 dismissed a review petition seeking probe into Central Bureau of Investigation Judge Brijgopal Harkishan Loya\u2019s death on December 1, 2014.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">SC bench comprising of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and justices D Y Chandrachud and A M Khanwilkar did not find any reason to reconsider apex court&#8217;s <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1422013701\"><span class=\"aQJ\">April 19<\/span><\/span> verdict in the case which says that Judge Loya died of natural causes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">SC was hearing a petition filed by the Bombay Lawyers Association alleging that Judge Loya died under mysterious circumstances.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">SC bench said, &#8220;We have carefully gone through the review petition and the connected papers, but we see no reason to interfere with the order impugned. The review petition is, accordingly, dismissed.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">SC even accused the petitioners of trying to \u201cmalign the judiciary\u201d and called their petitions \u201cscandalous and amounting to criminal contempt\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Loya, who was handling the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, in which Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah was an accused, had died of cardiac arrest while attending the wedding of a colleague&#8217;s daughter in Nagpur.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Supreme Court (SC) on July 31 dismissed a review petition seeking probe into Central Bureau of Investigation Judge Brijgopal Harkishan Loya\u2019s death on December 1, 2014.
