{"id":300504,"date":"2018-07-18T15:56:25","date_gmt":"2018-07-18T15:56:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/?p=300504"},"modified":"2018-07-18T15:56:25","modified_gmt":"2018-07-18T15:56:25","slug":"ed-files-supplementary-charge-sheet-in-3600-crore-agustawestland-chopper-scam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/ed-files-supplementary-charge-sheet-in-3600-crore-agustawestland-chopper-scam\/","title":{"rendered":"ED files supplementary charge sheet in 3,600-crore AgustaWestland chopper scam"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-300505 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/agusta-300x180.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"583\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/07\/agusta-300x180.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/07\/agusta-696x417.jpg 696w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/07\/agusta-701x420.jpg 701w, https:\/\/tehelka.com\/media\/2018\/07\/agusta.jpg 764w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 583px) 100vw, 583px\" \/>The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on July 18 has filed a supplementary charge sheet in the 3,600-crore\u00a0AgustaWestland VVIP chopper bribery scam against former Air Force Chief S P Tyagi, his two cousins, lawyer Gautam Khaitan, two Italian middlemen and Finmeccanica, the parent company of AgustaWestland.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The charge sheet will be taken up for consideration on <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1352510252\"><span class=\"aQJ\">July 20<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The charge sheet is filed through special public prosecutor N K Matta, and accuses Tyagi brothers, including S P Tyagi, Khaitan, Italian middlemen Carlo Gerosa and Guido Haschke and Finmeccanica of money laundering of around 28 million Euro.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The ED, in its charge sheet, states that money has been laundered through multiple foreign companies which were used as fronts to route the kickbacks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">These firms have drawn the money in the name of consultancy contracts to Interstellar Technologies Ltd and others and these funds were further transferred to Dubai-based UHY Saxena and Matrix Holdings Ltd in Dubai.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Currently Shivani Saxena, an active director of UHY Saxena is under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and is in judicial custody.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">On January 1, 2014, India had scrapped the contract with AgustaWestland for supplying 12 AW-101 VVIP choppers to the Indian Air Force over alleged breach of contractual obligations and charges of kickbacks of Rs 423 crore paid by it to secure the deal.<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on July 18 has filed a supplementary charge sheet in the 3,600-crore\u00a0AgustaWestland VVIP chopper bribery scam against former Air Force Chief S P Tyagi, his two cousins, lawyer Gautam Khaitan, two Italian middlemen and Finmeccanica, the parent company of AgustaWestland.
