{"id":299119,"date":"2018-06-26T19:17:32","date_gmt":"2018-06-26T13:47:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tehelka.com\/?p=299119"},"modified":"2018-06-28T12:42:24","modified_gmt":"2018-06-28T12:42:24","slug":"will-continue-to-make-every-effort-to-settle-with-psbs-vijay-mallya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/will-continue-to-make-every-effort-to-settle-with-psbs-vijay-mallya\/","title":{"rendered":"Will continue to make every effort to settle with PSBs: Vijay Mallya"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-299120 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Vijay-mallya-300x270.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"341\" height=\"307\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Vijay Mallya on June 26 released a two-year-old letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said in a statement saying \u201cHe will continue to make every effort to settle with the public sector banks (PSBs)\u201d adding that the bulk of the claims made by the Public Sector Banks were on account of interest and that he was being made a \u201cPoster Boy\u201d of bank default and a \u201clightning rod of public anger\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">&#8220;I wrote letters to both the prime minister and the finance minister on 15th April 2016 and am making these letters public to put things in the right perspective. No response was received from either of them,&#8221; said Mallya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">He said that he has been accused by politicians and the press alike of having stolen and run away with Rs. 9,000 crores that was loaned to Kingfisher Airlines. Some of the lending Banks have also labeled me a willful defaulter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Mallya&#8217;s statement read &#8220;He requested court permission to allow the selling of the assets under judicial supervision and repay creditors, including PSBs.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Mallya&#8217;s statement comes in wake of application which was filed last week by the Enforcement Directorate before a special court in Mumbai.
