Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on June 20 said that the imposition of Governor\u2019s rule in Jammu and Kashmir will not have any impact on the ongoing military operations in the Valley.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t think there will be any impact. We don\u2019t have a kind of political interference,\u201d said Rawat.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Army chief said that the operations in the Valley would continue as earlier<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOperations were being carried out earlier as well. Then we saw a phase of suspension of operations because we wanted people to get a chance to offer their prayers during Ramzan without any kind of problem. Despite that, terrorists continued with their activity, which is why the suspension of operations was cancelled,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

President Ram Nath Kovind on June 20 approved the imposition of Governor’s rule in J&K with immediate effect following the collapse of Mehbooba Mufti-led coalition government as BJP pulled out of the alliance citing deteriorating security situation in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the eighth time in the last four decades that the Governor’s rule is imposed in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n

Governor NN Vohra, is due to retire on\u00a0June 25<\/span><\/span>. But he may stay till Amarnath Yatra.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kavinder Gupta, deputy chief minister and BJP leader, said: “It is a routine matter, after the Amarnath Yatra maybe a decision will be taken.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“The imposing of Governor’s rule will not affect our operations. Our operations will go on like they used to. We don’t face any political interference,” Army Chief General Bipin Rawat said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Governor\u2019s rule would result in closer coordination among security forces, especially the State police and the Army.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jammu and Kashmir DGP SP Vaid said, \u201cGovernor’s rule would make it much easier for the police to work.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

“I am sure things should work very effectively and it will have an impact on the security situation of the valley,” he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a political decision, and the Army will not have any direct impact. But the police will now be more open in giving intelligence inputs as they normally come under the State government,\u201d a Defense source revealed.<\/span><\/p>\n

DGP Vaid also said, “I am sure things should work very effectively and it will have an impact on the security situation of the valley.”<\/span><\/p>\n
