{"id":298515,"date":"2018-06-08T17:41:30","date_gmt":"2018-06-08T12:11:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tehelka.com\/?p=298515"},"modified":"2018-06-28T16:17:19","modified_gmt":"2018-06-28T16:17:19","slug":"defence-ministry-approves-rs-5500-crore-for-procurement-of-radars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/defence-ministry-approves-rs-5500-crore-for-procurement-of-radars\/","title":{"rendered":"Defence Ministry Approves Rs. 5,500 Crore For Procurement Of Radars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Defence Ministry on 8 June gives nod to military purchases worth over Rs. 5,500 crore, which includes the purchase of 12 high power radars for the Indian Air Force having a capability to detect high speed targets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The 12 high power radars will be procured indigenously under the \u2018Buy (Indian) Indigenously Designed Developed and Manufactured category.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The decision for procurement was taken during a meeting of the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC, Defence Ministry\u2019s highest decision-making body on procurement) which was chaired by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cThe radars will provide long range medium and high altitude radar cover with the capability to detect and track high speed targets following parabolic trajectories.
