{"id":286529,"date":"2018-05-09T15:54:02","date_gmt":"2018-05-09T10:24:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tehelka.com\/?p=286529"},"modified":"2018-05-09T15:54:02","modified_gmt":"2018-05-09T10:24:02","slug":"trump-withdraws-from-iran-nuclear-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tehelka.com\/trump-withdraws-from-iran-nuclear-deal\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump withdraws from Iran Nuclear Deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Trump-Tehelka.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"  wp-image-286531 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tehelka.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Trump-Tehelka-300x170.jpg\" alt=\"Trump Tehelka\" width=\"423\" height=\"240\" data-id=\"286531\" \/><\/a>US President Donald Trump in his address called the nuclear accord or Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with Iran &#8211; a &#8220;horrible, one-sided deal that should have never, ever been made&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said he would work to find a &#8220;real, comprehensive, and lasting&#8221; deal that will tackle not only the Iranian nuclear programme but its ballistic missile tests and activities across the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr Trump also said he would reimpose economic sanctions on Iran which were waived when the deal was signed in 2015.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to JCPOA, Iran agreed to limit the size of its stock of enriched uranium for 15 years and the number of centrifuges installed to enrich uranium for 10 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In return, sanctions imposed by the UN, US and EU on Iran were lifted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Now after the withdrawal from the deal, the US Treasury said that the sanctions would directly target industries mentioned in the deal, including Iran&#8217;s oil sector, aircraft manufacturers exporting to Iran. Major European and US companies are also likely to be hit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">US National Security Adviser John Bolton warned European companies doing business in Iran and asked them to stop within six months or they too will face US sanctions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the other hand, Iran insists its nuclear programme is completely peaceful, and they have complied with the deal which has been verified by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">President Rouhani has warned that Iran could resume &#8220;industrial-scale&#8221; uranium enrichment if the agreement collapses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>US President Donald Trump in his address called the nuclear accord or Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with Iran &#8211; a &#8220;horrible, one-sided deal that should have never, ever been made&#8221;.
