Assam has released the first draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) that identified 1.9 crore people out of a total 3.29 crore applicants as Indian citizens. The names for the second round of the draft are undergoing the verification process.<\/p>\n

As per the Supreme Court guidelines, the deadline of December 31, 2017 (on or before) was set to update and publish the draft of NRC for Assam.<\/span><\/p>\n

Registrar General of India Sailash said that while remaining names are still under verification process, the next date to publish the draft will be announced soon as per the guidelines of the Supreme Court in April 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n

National Register of Citizens (NRC), 1951, is a record of names of Indian citizens being updated until\u00a0midnight<\/span><\/span>\u00a0of March 24, 1971. The record is to identify existing foreigners or illegal immigration in Assam or anywhere in India.<\/span><\/p>\n

To know whether person\u2019s name is enlisted or not in the NRC register, he\u2019she has to visit NRC seva kendras between\u00a0January 2 to 31 2018<\/span><\/span>, or can log in to websites:\u00a0www.nrcassam.nic.in<\/a>,\u00a0www.assam.mygov.in<\/a>,\u00a0www.assam.gov.in<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0www.homeandpolitical.assam.<\/wbr>gov.in<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
