In yet another decisive step towards realising the vision of a drug-free Haryana, Sirsa Police has scored a major success against drug traffickers as on wednesday, a joint team of Sirsa’s Thana Ding and Rajasthan Police seized approximately 88 kg 970 g of opium, valued in crores in the international market. The police arrested one truck driver in connection with the haul which ranks among the most significant anti-opium operations in Haryana’s history.
Haryana Director General of Police Ajay Singhal congratulated the joint team on this remarkable achievement and reaffirmed that Haryana Police is waging a determined campaign against drug traffickers. He stated that the seizure has not only intercepted a massive consignment of narcotics before it could reach the market, but has also delivered a severe blow to the inter-state drug trafficking network operating across the region.
The DGP noted that, in keeping with the state government’s zero-tolerance policy under Chief Minister Saini’s leadership, the Haryana Police is maintaining unrelenting pressure on all elements involved in the narcotics trade. He made clear that drug traffickers, their financial networks, and the entire supply chain will be systematically identified and brought to justice under the law.
DGP Singhal emphasised that Haryana Police’s objective extends far beyond individual arrests — the aim is to dismantle the entire drug supply ecosystem. To this end, we are fully deploying inter-state coordination, technical surveillance, and intelligence-led operations. He affirmed that such special operations will continue with unwavering resolve.
According to available information, a joint team of Thana Ding Police and Rajasthan Police was conducting vehicle inspections at a ‘nakabandi’ near the toll plaza on NH-9 when a truck approaching from the direction of Fatehabad was signalled to stop. Upon spotting the police, the driver attempted to flee, but the team gave chase and intercepted the vehicle.
A thorough search of the truck was conducted as per procedure. Investigators discovered specially constructed secret cavities fabricated from iron angles in the vehicle’s lower section. From these concealed compartments, 88 kg 970 g of opium packed in 95 separate packets was recovered.
The arrested individual has been identified as Kishna Ram, son of Chhoga Ram, a resident of Bishnoyian Ki Dhani, Bhania, Tehsil Ranawas, District Pali, Rajasthan.
Consignment Was Bound from Siliguri to Jodhpur.
A case has been registered at Thana Ding under the NDPS Act. The accused will be brought before a court and placed on police remand so investigators can identify and take action against other accused persons, suppliers, and receivers linked to this trafficking network.
