Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Saturday conducted raids at multiple locations across the Kashmir Valley as part of an ongoing investigation into a case registered under various provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), officials said.
The searches were carried out in connection with FIR No. 07/2023, registered under Sections 153-A, 505 and 506 of the IPC, along with Sections 13, 18, 18-B and 39 of the UAPA. Officials said the raids were conducted on the basis of warrants issued by a competent court.
According to officials, search teams raided the residences of Riyaz Ahmad Beigh of Hokarsar, originally from Dalal Mohalla in Maharaj Gunj, Srinagar; Syed Qalandar Shah of Chountwaliwar, Lar, in Ganderbal district; and Gulzar Ahmad Rather, an imam of Phali Masjid and a resident of Nowgam, Verinag, in Anantnag district.
During the operation, officials seized documents and electronic devices suspected to contain material relevant to the investigation. The recovered items will be subjected to forensic and technical examination as part of the ongoing probe, they said.
Officials said the searches were conducted in accordance with legal procedures to gather evidence and establish facts related to the case.
