Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday slammed Centre for not paying GST compensation to states.
Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul said the PM bought 2 planes for himself but has no money to pay the states. “Centre promises GST revenue for States, Economy shattered by PM & Covid, PM gives 1.4 lakh Crs tax cuts to Corporates, buys 2 planes for himself for 8400 Crs, Centre has no money to pay States, FM tells States- Borrow. Why is your CM mortgaging your future for Modi?” Rahul said in a tweet.
Rahul comment comes ahead of the GST council meeting. The meeting will be led by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman with state finance minister’s council to discuss the compensation for GST revenue losses to the states.
Rahul has been continuously attacking the central government over the issues related to the economy and the situation in the country due to COVID-19.
