A search operation was launched by the Punjab Police and other security agencies in the frontier areas of Pathankot and Gurdaspur in Punjab after movement of four suspicious men reported and an abandoned car was found, officials said on Saturday.
According to the police officials, the search operation was being carried in and around Saidipur village in Pathankot district.
As per the reports, a car with Jammu and Kashmir registration number was found near the Bamiyal area.
“The suspected men abandoned the vehicle and fled after they were told by police personnel to stop for checking at a police barrier,” police said.
Last Week, the counter intelligence wing of Punjab Police sounded an alert about the presence of six to seven Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists in the state and said they could be moving towards the national capital.
