Punjab Police ACP Anil Kohli succumbs to coronavirus

After battling for life for many days, Punjab Police ACP Anil Kohli died due to Coronavirus in Ludhiana on Saturday. He was on a ventilator after becoming seriously ill and breathed his last at SPS Hospital.

Confirming the news, Punjab Police in a tweet said, “Deeply saddened to inform about the demise of our brave colleague ACP Anil Kohli, who was fighting the battle against #Covid19, We all stand together with the bereaved family in this tragic hour.”

Punjab Police DGP, Dinkar Gupta, in a series of tweets condoled the death of ACP Anil Kumar. He said, “ACP Anil Kohli made the supreme sacrifice for the country while working on the front lines to contain the spread of coronavirus in the country. He was instrumental in bringing order & social distancing to the sale & purchase operations at Ludhiana Sabzi Mandi for which he had to get up around 2 am for many consecutive nights. He was also directly involved in contact tracing & area containment in Ludhiana. Anil joins the hallowed ranks of over 1800 Punjab Policemen who gave their lives for their motherland. We salute him for his untiring efforts to save the people of the State. His sacrifice in the line of duty would continue to inspire us for generations. Jai Hind!”

According to the information, ACP Anil Kohli of Ludhiana North was undergoing treatment for coronavirus at SPS Hospital. 

In Ludhiana, two people have died in the last two days from coronavirus. So far, 14 people have died due to COVID-19 in Punjab, while cases of infected people have exceeded 200.

It is being said that preparation for Kohli’s plasma therapy was also going on, but he died before that. 

Four people who came in contact with Anil Kohli were also tested positive for COVID-19. This includes his wife, his driver, an SHO and an ASI.
