Four people died as a fire broke out at a hosiery factory in Ludhiana, Punjab on Wednesday morning.
The fire broke out around 4am in the three-storey building of a factory in Kalyan Nagar, located in a densely-populated area of the city.
According to the reports, the workers died of suffocation as they could not find the exit door.
The deceased were all labourers who were working in the factory at the time of incident, police said.
The exact cause of the fire was not known yet.
Around half a dozen fire fighting vehicles were pressed into service to put out the fire,
Sources say, it took three hours for fire fighters to douse the flames.
