Congress general secretary from Uttar Pradesh East, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was on Friday detained by police when she was on her way to meet the family members of the people who were killed in firing in Sonbhadra over a land dispute.
“I only want to go and meet families of victims, but the administration is not letting us go there. They should tell us why we are being stopped. We will continue to sit here peacefully,” Priyanka said.
“The arrest of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who was going to meet the victims of the Sonbhadra massacre is the worst example of the dictatorship of the present UP government. We are determined to bring the victims to justice and are not afraid of BJP’s government gimmicks,” the Congress said in a tweet
According to the sources, ten people were killed and over 24 injured in the shooting which took place over a piece of land between the Gujjar and Gond communities.
