Priyanka Gandhi takes dig at Central government over farm laws, MSP

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday took a dig at BJP led Central government over the recently enacted farm laws.

Priyanka claimed that the farmers across Uttar Pradesh (UP) are forced to sell their paddy crops at prices less than the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

Taking to the microblogging site, Priyanka said, “The BJP government is holding a government Khat Sammelan on the bills that killed the rights of the farmers, but is not listening to the pain of the farmers. In almost all places in UP, farmers are forced to sell their paddy at Rs 1000 to 1100 per qunital, Rs 800 less than Rs 1868 per quintal MSP. This is when the MSP is guaranteed.”

“Imagine what will happen when the MSP guarantee is removed?” Priyanka added.

However, on the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that due to the new farm laws, the farmers of the country can sell whatever they are producing or cultivating to anyone, anywhere and can get a higher price according to their wish. He also assured that MSP and government procurement would continue.
