Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday hoisted the National flag at the Red Fort in New Delhi to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Azad Hind government formed by freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
According to the reports, the government took the decision to hoist the national flag at the Red Fort because it was the same place where soldiers of the Indian National Army (Azad Hind Fauj) faced trials by the British.
Speaking at the event, Prime Minister hailed Netaji for his contribution to the freedom struggle.
“Netaji had promised an India where everyone has equal rights and equal opportunities. He had promised a prosperous nation which was proud of its traditions, development in all areas,” Modi added.
Prime Minister Modi said that his government has taken tough decisions in the interest and welfare of the nation and will continue to do so in the future.
The Azad Hind Government, founded on 21st October 1943 was inspired by Subhash Chandra Bose.
