New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu will embark on a three-nation State Visit to Moldova, North Macedonia and Romania from July 19 to 25, aimed at strengthening India’s diplomatic, economic and cultural ties with the three European nations. The visit comes at the invitation of the respective Heads of State and marks a significant step in expanding India’s engagement with Central and Eastern Europe.
President Murmu will begin her tour with Moldova, becoming the first President of India to visit the country. During her stay, she will hold bilateral talks with the Moldovan leadership and discuss ways to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, information technology, education and cultural exchanges.
In the second leg of her visit, the President will travel to North Macedonia, marking another historic first by an Indian Head of State. Discussions are expected to focus on strengthening political relations, boosting economic cooperation and expanding collaboration in sectors such as tourism, healthcare, education and digital technology.
The final leg of the tour will take President Murmu to Romania, where she will hold high-level meetings with the country’s President and other senior leaders. The visit is expected to deepen cooperation in defence, renewable energy, trade, technology and people-to-people exchanges while reviewing the progress of existing bilateral partnerships.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the three-nation visit reflects India’s commitment to enhancing partnerships with European countries and exploring new avenues of cooperation in strategic and emerging sectors.
