President Kovind, PM Modi pay tribute to India’s first PM Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary

President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid tribute to India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary.

Remembering Nehru on his birth anniversary, President Kovind said he would look forward to meeting children and young innovators at Rashtrapati Bhavan today.

“Remembering India’s first Prime Minister, Shri Jawaharlal Nehru, on his 130th birth anniversary. Look forward to meeting children and young innovators at Rashtrapati Bhavan today,” Kovind tweeted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a tweet said, “Tributes to our former PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary.”

Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh, former President Pranab Mukherjee and other senior political leaders on Thursday paid tribute to Nehru on his birth anniversary.

They paid homage to Nehru at Shantivan in Delhi.

Nehru was born on November 14, 1889 and was fondly called Chacha Nehru.

As a mark of respect to Nehru, Children’s day is celebrated every year on November 14 in India.
