Police arrest class 9 student for stabbing schoolmate to death outside government school in Panchkula

A class 9 student of government school was arrested on September 17 when a high-school rivalry at a school went out of hand when a 17-year-old Vikas Kumar was stabbed to death by accomplices of a schoolmate he got into a fight outside the premises of Government Senior Secondary School in Sector 7 Panchkula, Haryana.

The police officer handling the case reportedly said, “The body has been sent for the postmortem and the report will soon be out. We are carrying out the investigation.”

The confrontation began on September 15 when Kumar slapped one of his schoolmates for allegedly snatching his best friend’s cell phone. After the incident the accused summoned 15-20 of his friends, some of whom were school seniors outside the school premises on September 17.

After stepping out of the school Vikas was surrounded by the accused and other boys and a heated argument ensued. In the heat of the moment, one of the minors in the crowd allegedly took out a knife and stabbed Vikas.

A Class 10th student was also reportedly injured in an attempt to save Vikas.

Taking note of the incident the School faculty alerted the police and rushed the boy to the Civil Hospital in Sector 6. He was declared brought dead by the hospital authorities.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abhishek Jorwal said, “Two accused involved in the murder have been arrested and charged under Justice Juvenile Act, 2015. With the help of the CCTV footage and names given by students, cops managed to identify the minors.”

The DCP added that investigation into the matter is underway.
