Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off on February 15, India’s first engineless train Vande Bharat Express from the New Delhi Railway station, a Railway Ministry official said.
Train 18, which was recently named as Vande Bharat Express by Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, has been manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai.
“Modi will also address people while flagging off the train,” the official said.
Railway Minister had earlier said that the indigenously built train would complete the distance of 795 km in eight hours.
Train 18 became India’s fastest train by hitting a speed of over 180 kmph during a trial run.
The 16-coach train will soon start replacing the 30-year-old Shatabdi Express trains and will run between Delhi and Varanasi.
