Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the family of Jagdish Thakkar, a public relations officer in the Prime Minister’s Office who died on Monday.
“PM @narendramodi met the family of late Shri Jagdish Thakkar and expressed condolences on Jagdishbhai’s unfortunate demise. Shri Thakkar served as the PRO to PM and had previously worked with various Chief Ministers of Gujarat. He distinguished himself as a veteran journalist,” PMO said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sadness over the demise of Jagdish Thakkar and said that he had the pleasure of working with him for years.
“Extremely saddened by the demise of Shri Jagdish Thakkar, the PRO in the PMO. Jagdishbhai was a veteran journalist and I had the pleasure of working with him for years, both in Gujarat and in Delhi. He was known for his simplicity and warm-hearted nature,” Modi tweeted.
According to the reports, Thakkar was being treated in New Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences since September this year.
“The Prime Minister went to AIIMS, where he spent time with the family of late Shri Jagdish Thakkar. Jagdishbhai is fondly remembered by all those people who interacted closely with him. Here is a picture of Shri @narendramodi with Shri Thakkar,” PMO tweeted.
Thakkar worked with Prime Minister Modi since his days as the chief minister of Gujarat and later joined him in the PMO. He had also worked with various other chief ministers in Gujarat for over three decades.
Modi said, “Several journalists would have regularly interacted with Jagdishbhai over the years. He had previously served with many Chief Ministers of Gujarat. We have lost a wonderful person, who loved his work and did it with utmost diligence. Condolences to his family and well wishers,”
