PM Modi’s new cabinet to meet today

The first meeting of the new cabinet will take place today in Delhi, a day after Narendra Modi, his cabinet ministers were sworn in at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The focus is on the announcement of ministries assigned to the 57 members — 24 of cabinet rank, 9 -Ministers of State (Independent Charge) and 24 ministers of state – in the new government.

PM Modi yesterday in a tweet had congratulated to all those who took oath. He described his team as a blend of youthful energy and administrative experience.

“Congratulations to all those who took oath today. This team is a blend of youthful energy and administrative experience. It has people who have excelled as Parliamentarians and those who have had distinguished professional careers. Together, we will work for India’s progress,” PM Modi tweeted.

There were several new faces in the council of ministers, including Amit Shah, who is the president of the BJP and the big surprise was the debut of former foreign secretary S. Jaishankar.
