New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon citizens to actively participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 campaign by proudly hoisting the National Flag and celebrating India’s spirit of unity and patriotism ahead of the 80th Independence Day.
The fifth edition of the nationwide campaign will be observed from August 9 to August 17, 2026, with this year’s theme being “Spirit of Vande Mataram.” The initiative aims to strengthen the emotional bond between citizens and the Tricolour while honouring India’s freedom struggle and inspiring greater public participation in nation-building.
In a message shared on social media, the Prime Minister encouraged people to hoist the Tiranga at their homes, workplaces and institutions, and to participate in various activities being organised across the country under the campaign. Citizens have also been invited to upload selfies with the National Flag and take part in digital initiatives through the campaign’s official portal.
As part of this year’s celebrations, Tiranga Yatras, bike rallies, cycle rallies, cultural programmes, patriotic concerts, exhibitions, and community outreach events will be organised across states to promote national unity and pride. Several state governments and local administrations have already launched awareness drives ahead of the campaign.
The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, launched under the Government of India’s Independence Day celebrations, has evolved into a nationwide people’s movement over the past four years. It encourages citizens from all walks of life to proudly display the National Flag while reaffirming their commitment to the country’s unity, sovereignty and constitutional values.
Citizens can participate by hoisting the Tricolour, joining local Tiranga events, and registering their participation through the official campaign website.
